An invitation to explore the musical plurality of the American continent, the album brings together works for solo piano by composers from Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico and Peru.
PIANISMO DAS AMÉRICAS highlights piano writing as a form of recording the everyday experience and collective memory of each country, featuring composers such as Alexandre Levy, Ignacio Cervantes, Teresa Carreño and Alberto Williams — artists who found in concert music a way to translate the traditions, landscapes and identities of their peoples. The program also includes Improviso, an original unpublished work by Thomazinho.
A graduate of the University of São Paulo (USP) and holder of a Master’s degree in Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston, Lucas Thomazinho has been recognized in international competitions in Spain, Portugal and the United States. As a soloist, he performs regularly with leading orchestras, including the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), the Minas Gerais Philharmonic, the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and the Ñuble Symphony Orchestra in Chile.
